What's the secret to getting an infant to sleep through the night? The Dock-A-Tot. I think co-sleepers were the item on our baby registry we researched most. My husband hates clutter and actually hates all of the cluttery baby stuff we have for Stella. So when looking for a co-sleeper we needed to find something that was safe, looked nice, and that Stella would be comfortable in and sleep. Actually sleep.
Stella is now 7 months old, she is big for 7 months too. We have not had any luck getting her to sleep in her Dock for the last month. This is disheartening since they are a bit pricey and the Deluxe is supposed to last until she is 9 months old. The website does not recommend upgrading to the Grand until at least 9 months, and the Grand is about $100 more than the Deluxe. My husband doesn't think the bigger Dock will work, but me? I'm a believer.......

Let me tell you, our first day home from the hospital was a mess. We thought we would be able to go back to our same routine (silly right?) and Stella wasn't having it. So her first night in the Dock was to be expected. She slept in 2 hour increments, woke for feedings as she was supposed. As the nights went on, her sleeping increased more and more. As a new mom, I was so surprised. I thought I would be a zombie, I need my sleep. By Stella's second week I was waking her up every 3-4 hours to feed her. She would sleep nurse, then be right back in the Dock until her next feeding or until around 6:30am or 7am. By week 4 she was sleeping through the night. So from around 9:30 or 10pm to 7am, sometimes later.
The website says "supervised sleeping." Your doctor will not be a fan. You may even find some crazy mommies that say it's unsafe. But, while Stella was swaddled, she didn't move an inch. It made her feel cozy as if she was still in mommy's tummy. And she slept... :)
